| This collaboration brew pours a rich hazy amber (almost burgundy) color with a foamy mound of off-white head which, on a refill pour, bounded over the side of the pint glass. Despite its size, there was minimal lacing through the drink. Nose is spiked with a strong mix of piney, minty and citrus-based hops, and there's a twinge of bready malt in there as well. Mouthfeel is fairly light, and the beer is medium-bodied. The flavor jumps out front with a malty caramel composition, then transitions into a floral potpourri of hops. There are subtle notes of cloves and grapefruit in the middle before finishing with a overly dry, bitter finish typically associated with a DIPA. Aftertaste lingers but is not overpowering; overall, this is a pleasantly understated and drinkable DIPA. | |
